Firstly, because I love paddling, challenges, being on the ocean, meeting people, and adventures of discovery
Secondly, because I feel passionately about protecting our environment, though that doesn’t make me a raving greenie. In fact, I’ve spent the last 6 years working in the investment industry, and established two successful businesses.
You see, all of us want to live in a clean environment, breathe fresh air, drink clean water, and eat safe food. Most of us also realise that we are using too much water, burning too much coal, destroying too much land. We fear for our kids who will inherit the consequences.
At the same time, most of us believe that jobs, financial wellbeing and a high standard of living are all good things – we want to get them and hang on to them. Which makes most of us feel very uneasy, because the raving greenies tell us that to preserve the environment we have to stop living the way we like living, and the crazy capitalists tell us that if we do that, we’ll all be out on the streets.
I believe otherwise. I believe that it is possible to create wealth and jobs and preserve the environment at the same time. It’s not only possible - it’s essential. I believe in a better, more intelligent future for our planet.
I also believe that you have to start somewhere
And since we have our work cut out to fix up the damage we’ve already done, it makes sense to start by not making any more.... which And that brings me to Gunns' proposed Pulp Mill

でも―信じている。富を生み出しながらも環境を保護していけると。それは“可能”なのではなくもはや“必須”。僕はこの星に、聡明で、より良い未来が訪れることを信じている。
